McCaela Turns One!

02.01.2015

I met McCaela when she was five months old. She was a chubby little baby laying down in her baby cot, looking at me with no expressions on her face. I did quite well the first time holding her in my arms, she was quite comfortable and most importantly she didn't cry.

I've learnt a lot from watching McCaela's growing up. How amazing is the Creator of the world! Every single week or month, this little baby is growing: this week she is able to turn her body, a few weeks later she is able to crawl, a few weeks later she is able to sit up, and a few weeks later she is learning how to walk. It is just so amazing to see her grows. Everything is new to her. I once gave her a piece of paper to keep her entertained, when she was crying in her pram. Her little fingers squeezed the paper and it wrinkled. She was amazed. That was the moment that she first discovered that papers can be wrinkled if we squeeze them. Exploring the world is such a wonderful process. Who say that we stop learning when we are graduated from school? There is so much to learn about in life, and now we are learning about babies. There is a saying:" The more you learn, the more you realise that you don't know."

McCaela started to play with her feet, showing her flexibility in doing challenging yoga poses that adult can hardly do. She was choosy over who could carry her. She banged her head few times while playing on my couch. And my dog Headie, started to love babies after he met McCaela. Headie will give McCaela a big wet kiss every time he sees her. And she is used to it: growing up surrounded by huge dogs who love to lick her chubby face. She doesn't mind it haha.

Jin Yuan decided to do a garden party in front of my apartment to celebrate McCaela's first birthday. I love that idea because I think the apartment that we are renting is super cool and beautiful. It was a 36 degree Celsius Summer day. The wind was very warm too.
We set up a few tables, vintage chairs and decorated them. Jin Yuan has done a great job in preparing the flowers and making desserts. When she took the pink birthday cake out, we were just:" WOW........." A beautiful rainbow cake for the little princess! How lucky is she! Nevertheless, it was a great evening party, with food and close friends, and three little princesses playing around.

Dear little McCaela (please still read this blog post in the next 20 years or 40 years),

Thank you for letting me holding your little fingers, feeding you, kissing your cheeks, walking you in the park, playing with you and babysitting you. Thank you for bringing so much joy into my life and teaches us so much about a child's heart. Only a heart as pure as yours can enter the kingdom of heaven. You are such a cheeky little angel. Your smile melts our hearts away. May your life be blessed with health and happiness. And may you find the purposes in life and bless the people around you with your smile. Please don't grow up too fast, for I love your chubby cheeks. We are so glad that we are part of your life and we love you with all our hearts.

From, aunty Wei Wei and uncle Gary and Headie
